Sclerotherapy (varicose veins and spider veins)

Sclerotherapy (varicose veins and spider veins)

Sclerotherapy is the treatment of choice for removing varicose and spider veins, those small visible reddish, bluish or purplish veins that appear on legs, ankles and even thighs. Although they do not usually represent a serious medical problem, many patients consult for cosmetic reasons or because of associated discomfort such as heaviness, itching or cramps.

The procedure involves infiltrating a sclerosing fluid into the affected blood vessel with a very fine needle. This substance irritates the vessel wall, causing it to collapse and then be reabsorbed by the body. It is an outpatient treatment, painless in most cases and without the need for anaesthesia.

The duration of the treatment varies according to the number of varicose veins to be treated, but normally between 2 and 4 sessions are required to obtain optimal results. It is important to complement the procedure with the use of compression stockings for a few days and to avoid direct sun exposure to prevent hyperpigmentation.

Sclerotherapy not only significantly improves the aesthetic appearance of the legs, but also contributes to the prevention of future venous dilatation. It is a safe technique, with years of clinical evidence, that allows you to regain confidence in your body appearance without resorting to invasive treatments.
